He used to work as a professor at Al-Malik Khalid university teaching creed and contemporary doctrines. He was also the imam at the Uthman Al-Ghamidi mosque in Abha. He was active in giving religious lessons and lectures in his local mosque and various cities in the southern areas.

His attendance at a seminar titled “Freedom Between Slogan and Reality” presented by Dr. Saud Al-Funaisan at the home of Dr. Awad Al-Qarni, as well as hosting a banquet for Dr. Al-Funaisan at his own residence. Additionally, he posted several tweets calling for the release of prisoners of conscience and possessed two books that the Saudi authorities deemed prohibited.

The prosecution included in its evidence a signed statement by detainee Ali Asiri; however, this statement contained no criminal offense, only personal and family information about the detainee.
As for the alleged banned book, he acquired it as part of his academic role as a professor of Islamic creed, requiring him to study various sects and groups as part of scholarly research.
