About The Detainee

Professor of Comparative Jurisprudence and a founding member of the Saudi Civil and Political Rights Association (ACPRA), he is a staunch defender of human rights. He led the defense team for the late Dr. Abdullah Al-Hamid and his brother Issa Al-Hamid. He has numerous research papers and studies, including those addressing the legitimacy of demonstrations and hunger strikes in Islamic law.

The Criminal Court in Buraidah initially sentenced him to 8 years in prison, followed by a 10-year travel ban. His case was later retried by the Court of Appeals at the Specialized Criminal Court, which increased his sentence to 10 years in prison and imposed a travel ban for the same duration thereafter.
