He was subjected to brutal torture to coerce confessions regarding the details of a video he released about his father on an American channel. Following this, the investigators employed unethical and illegal methods, administering certain drugs used for such sordid tasks, which caused the victim to involuntarily disclose numerous details. Consequently, Al-Duwish admitted to all the specifics of the published video and his contact with activists abroad to aid in its dissemination through the media and use it to internationally pressure on behalf of his father's case. Afterward, they demanded he record these confessions from the same location where he recorded the initial video, and then make another recording stating that his father had contacted them from Syria, reporting he was well before losing contact. They promised to release him if he complied, and indeed, he made the recordings.
