The Saudi authorities carry out the ninth political execution of 2025 under the pretext of “terrorism”
Today, the Saudi authorities executed citizen Ali bin Abdullah bin Abdulkarim Al-Rabah, continuing a series of political executions disguised as counterterrorism measures to eliminate dissidents and opponents. This marks the ninth political execution documented by Sanad Human Rights Organization in 2025 alone.
The statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, published today, used vague language and broad accusations without specifying any concrete incidents or detailed evidence against the detainee. It also failed to mention the name of the court that issued the ruling, in blatant violation of standards of justice and transparency.
As usual, the authorities fabricated charges and manipulated facts, repeating familiar accusations such as “joining a terrorist cell” and “shooting at security forces”—allegations often used to justify executions, even though previous cases have shown that some of those executed were merely exercising their right to free expression through tweets or peaceful activities.
Sanad Human Rights Organization reiterates its call on the Saudi authorities to immediately halt all politically motivated executions. The organization stresses that the continued implementation of death sentences under the pretext of “counterterrorism,” without ensuring fair trials and proper legal safeguards, constitutes a grave violation of human rights and basic principles of justice.
Sanad calls on the international community to take a firm stance against the alarming rise in political executions in Saudi Arabia and to exert immediate pressure to stop these systematic violations.
