Sand Organisation tries to communicate Prince Abdulaziz Al Saud after his heart attack, but to no avail

Following the heart attack suffered by Saudi Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud in July 2024, SANAD, a human rights organization, made multiple attempts to reach him at his place of house arrest. Despite persistent efforts, the organization was unable to make direct contact with the prince. Instead, their calls were answered by others who confirmed that the prince is recovering but is currently unable to speak with anyone.

It is worth noting that Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, who has been detained along with his son Salman for more than six years without trial, suffered a heart attack in July 2024 and was taken to the hospital for treatment before being returned to his place of detention in Riyadh under tight security, with no medical assistance provided Inside the villa, where he is being arbitrarily detained

The Saudi authorities arrested Prince Abdulaziz and his son in January 2018 without formal charges or trial. After being held for a year in Al-Ha’ir prison, they were moved to a private villa in March 2019, and then to a secret detention facility in March 2020, where they remained for three years. Recently, the authorities transferred them back to Abdulaziz’s palace in Riyadh. Family sources have confirmed that the current detention conditions have negatively impacted the prince’s health.

SANAD expresses deep concern about Prince Abdulaziz’s detention conditions and his deteriorating health. The organization asserts that the continued detention of the prince and his son without trial, along with the prince’s declining health, constitutes a serious violation of human rights. SANAD calls for their immediate release, ensuring they receive the necessary medical care.
