Ibrahim Al-Huwaiti Faces Imminent Execution
Poet Ibrahim Saleh Abu Khalil Al-Tiqai Al-Huwaiti remains at risk of execution at any moment, following the Specialized Criminal Court of Appeals’ confirmation of his sentence on January 23, 2023.
It is noteworthy that Ibrahim Al-Huwaiti is the cousin of martyr Abdul Rahim Al-Huwaiti, who was killed in his home in 2020 by Saudi security forces during the forced displacement of the Al-Huwaitat tribe from their homes. Saudi authorities arrested Ibrahim Al-Huwaiti in November 2020 due to charges related to his opposition to the forced displacement from his home in Al-Huwaitat. He was sentenced to death in October 2022, and the sentence was upheld by the Court of Appeals in 2023.
SANAD Organisation for Human Rights expresses deep concern over the possibility of Ibrahim’s execution and calls for the immediate annulment of the sentence and his unconditional release.
