Aida Al-Ghamdi: 2150 Days of Arbitrary Detention Without Charges or Trial

In one of the most severe violations committed by the current Saudi authorities, the mother Aida Al-Ghamdi was arrested due to her communication with her opposition son, Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, without consideration for her being a mother, and being nearly seventy years old. She remains under arbitrary detention to this day, despite more than 2150 days having passed since her arrest in March 2018.

The Saudi regime did not stop at arresting Aida Al-Ghamdi alone but also detained her son, Adel Al-Ghamdi, going further by torturing him in front of her and her in front of him, using excessive violence against her, and placing her in solitary confinement for 3 months, as well as conducting secret trials for her.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights expresses its deep concern over the continued detention of the Saudi citizen Aida Al-Ghamdi and her son Adel Al-Ghamdi without formal charges or a fair trial, and calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately release Aida Al-Ghamdi and her son, and to provide them with the necessary compensation for what they have suffered.
