Zaid Al-Roqi remains forcibly disappeared since 2019 over criticism of unemployment in Saudi Arabia

Young Saudi citizen Zaid Al-Roqi remains arbitrarily detained since November 2019 after publishing a video criticizing rising unemployment rates among Saudi youth and the lack of serious solutions by the authorities.

Since his arrest, Al-Roqi has been subjected to enforced disappearance amid a complete blackout regarding his condition. SANAD Human Rights Organization has been unable to obtain any information about his detention conditions or legal proceedings, reflecting a recurring pattern in Saudi Arabia under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s rule.

SANAD Human Rights Organization strongly condemned this arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance, calling for the immediate disclosure of Al-Roqi’s whereabouts and condition, and for his unconditional release.
