Saudi Arabia Arrests Umrah Pilgrims, Including a Syrian TikToker and an Egyptian Citizen
Human rights and media sources reported that Saudi authorities arrested Syrian TikToker Abdullah Al-Hamwi about three months ago while he was traveling to the Kingdom to perform Umrah.
In a separate case, Ahmed Gharib stated that Saudi authorities arrested his brother, Egyptian citizen Shaheen Gharib Shuaib, on March 3, noting that all contact with him has been cut off since the moment of his arrest.
For its part, SANAD Human Rights Organization expressed concern over these reports and condemned the continued targeting of visitors to the Grand Mosque through arrests.
SANAD stressed the need to keep the holy sites free from political disputes and called on Saudi authorities to ensure the safety and freedom of all visitors while they are in the sacred places.
