Dr Lina Al-Sharif, unlawfully detained for over a year

The Saudi Arabian Government continues its detention of the Doctor Lina Al-Sharif, who was arrested in May 2021 for her position and defence of freedoms and human rights in Saudi Arabia. 

Al-Sharif was arrested for tweets on her personal Twitter profile; calling for human rights; by security forces that raided her home in the city of Riyadh, and she has remained in arbitrary detention since that time without having had any charges levelled against her. 

And despite her detention being illegal, she is still denied basic rights such as retaining the services of legal counsel, or communication with her family, or being allowed to see the charges against her or the reasons for her arrest.
