Ongoing Suffering Behind Bars: Mousa Al-Ghannami Detained Since 2017
Saudi authorities have continued to arbitrarily detain Mousa Al-Ghannami since September 2017. He has been charged with a series of vague and politically motivated accusations, including “communicating with foreign entities” and “undermining state security” — charges frequently used in Saudi Arabia to criminalize freedom of expression and legitimize repression.
Throughout his years of detention, Al-Ghannami has been subjected to serious violations, including denial of regular contact with his family, lack of fair trial guarantees, medical neglect, and deteriorating detention conditions.
SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call on the Saudi authorities to release Mousa Al-Ghannami immediately and unconditionally, provide compensation for his years of arbitrary detention and related abuses, and free all prisoners of conscience while ending ongoing policies of repression that threaten the rights of citizens and residents in Saudi Arabia.
