Over 12 Years Since His Arrest and Two Years Past His Sentence: Muhannad Al-Muhaimid Remains Arbitrarily Detained

Despite completing his sentence over two years ago, there has been no news of the release or current detention conditions of human rights activist Muhannad Al-Muhaimid. Arrested in November 2012 for participating in peaceful protests organized by families of prisoners of conscience, Al-Muhaimid remains detained without any legal justification.

In 2014, the Specialized Criminal Court confirmed a 10-year prison sentence against him, accompanied by a 10-year travel ban and a fine of 100,000 Saudi Riyals. Additionally, his Twitter account was suspended, and he was banned from all social media platforms.

During his imprisonment, Al-Muhaimid endured severe human rights violations, including physical torture, 80 days in solitary confinement, and brutal beatings by 15 military officers after he requested a lawyer.

Sanad Human Rights Organization calls on Saudi authorities to immediately disclose Muhannad Al-Muhaimid’s detention conditions, release him unconditionally, and compensate him for the arbitrary detention and the violations he suffered.
