The Arbitrary Detention of Zaid Al-Ruqai: A Crime Against Humanity and Calls for Immediate Release
The Saudi authorities have continued to detain Zaid Al-Ruqai, since November 2019, due to a video in which he spoke about the widespread unemployment among the youth and the lack of genuine solutions from the concerned authorities.
Since his arrest, Zaid Al-Ruqai has been subjected to enforced disappearance, a crime under international law, considered a crime against humanity and a grave violation of human rights. The absence of any information about his place of detention or health status puts his life at risk.
SANAD Organisation for Human Rights strongly condemns this arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance of Zaid Al-Ruqai and calls for the disclosure of his whereabouts and immediate, unconditional release.
