The ordeal of the preacher Aisha Al-Muhajiri (66 years old) in Saudi prisons
For more than three years, specifically since February 2021, the Saudi preacher Aisha Al-Muhajiri has been enduring the hardships of arbitrary imprisonment in Saudi Arabia, without any legal reasons to justify this unjust detention.
As she approaches her seventies, Ms. Al-Muhajiri remains behind bars for the crime of education. The Quran teaching sessions she held in her home in Mecca were the direct cause of her arrest.
The manner of her arrest indicates the brutality of this oppressive regime, as a security force of about twenty people raided her home, showing no regard for her age or health condition. Her suffering did not stop there; inside the prison, she faced numerous violations, most notably deliberate medical neglect and denial of family visits. Moreover, her children were threatened by state security agents, and she was also prevented from hiring a lawyer.
The suffering of Ms. Al-Muhajiri represents a severe violation of human rights and is a stain on the reputation of the Saudi authorities. SANAD Organisation for Human Rights calls for her immediate and unconditional release.
