SANAD organisation Calls for Immediate Release of Detainee Khalaf Al-Anzi
In an incident that reflects the state of human rights in Saudi Arabia, authorities arrested Khalaf Al-Anzi in 2009 following a Friday sermon at a mosque in Saudi Arabia and he remains in arbitrary detention to this date.
Despite his arrest in 2009, the Saudi authorities did not try him until 7 years later, in 2017, when he was sentenced to 3 years in prison. However, he remained detained even after his sentence ended.
In prison, Al-Anzi was subjected to various violations including enforced disappearance, severe psychological and physical torture, leading to multiple injuries, and deliberate medical neglect.
SANAD Organisation for Human Rights calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Khalaf Al-Anzi and necessary compensation for the harm he has suffered.
