Dr. Ibrahim Al-Fares has not been released by the Saudi authorities despite the completion of his sentence.

In September 2020, the Specialized Criminal Court issued a verdict sentencing Dr. Ibrahim Al-Fares to 3 years in prison, and this judgment came after more than three years since his arrest in September 2017.

By September 2023, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Fares will have served his sentence, and the Saudi authorities are obligated to release him unconditionally.

Al-Fares is among the elderly detainees held by the Saudi authorities without just cause, as he is 66 years old, and these detainees face ongoing physical and medical neglect in the prisons.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Ibrahim Al-Fares and to abide by the court’s verdict, which is considered unjust in itself, as there are no legal grounds for his arrest or trial.
