Syrian Engineer Mohammed Anis Al-Saour Released and Deported to Damascus After More Than Three and a Half Years in Detention
According to human rights and media sources, Saudi authorities have released Syrian engineer Mohammed Anis Al-Saour (Abu Hudhayfah) after more than three and a half years in detention and deported him to Damascus following his release. Al-Saour was arrested in January 2023 alongside a group of Syrian nationals.
During his detention, Al-Saour was subjected to several human rights violations, including transfer to a high-security prison, denial of communication and visits with his family, and being prevented from appointing a lawyer to defend him.
SANAD Human Rights Organization welcomes Al-Saour’s release and renews its call on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all detainees.
