Dr. Salman Al-Odah has endured 2400 days of injustice

The well-known Islamic preacher, Dr. Salman Al-Odah, has been behind bars for over 2400 days following a tweet in which he expressed his opinion on the Saudi-Qatari crisis since September 2017.

During this bitter period, Al-Odah faced numerous violations in prison, including solitary confinement, shackling of hands and feet, and being denied contact with his family, in addition to an unfair trial that was conducted secretly without allowing him to appoint a lawyer.

On September 1, 2023, the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention issued Opinion No. 2023/56 concerning Salman Fahd Al-Odah, concluding that his detention is arbitrary and constitutes a violation of international human rights.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights, expresses deep concern over the continued detention of the Islamic preacher Dr. Salman Al-Odah for more than 2400 days and calls on the Saudi authorities for his immediate release and that of all prisoners of conscience in Saudi Arabia, and to compensate them for the damages suffered due to their arbitrary detention.
