Fifth Anniversary of Abdullah Al-Mubarki’s Arrest Amid Continued Silence Over His Fate

These days mark the fifth anniversary of the arrest of social media activist Abdullah Al-Mubarki, who was detained in July 2021 after his home in Yanbu was raided, without clear charges or any known legal procedures.

Since his arrest, Al-Mubarki has been taken to an unknown location, with no reliable information about his place of detention or legal status, amounting to enforced disappearance under international law.

SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call on Saudi authorities to immediately reveal the fate of Abdullah Al-Mubarki and all forcibly disappeared detainees, and to release them immediately and unconditionally. SANAD stresses that these practices constitute serious human rights violations and urges the international community to pressure Saudi Arabia to end arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance.
