Saudi Authorities Continue to Detain Journalist Sami Al-Thubaity Since 2017 Over a Tweet
Saudi authorities have continued to detain journalist Sami Al-Thubaity since September 2017 over a tweet in which he called for unity, reconciliation, and ending divisions during the Saudi-Qatari crisis.
Since his arrest, Al-Thubaity has been subjected to several serious violations, including enforced disappearance and denial of a fair trial. No recent information about his condition has reached SANAD for a prolonged period.
SANAD calls for his immediate and unconditional release, along with all prisoners of conscience, and urges the authorities to guarantee their fundamental rights and hold those responsible for violations accountable.
