5,900 Days Behind Bars: Khalaf Al-Anzi Arbitrarily Detained Since 2009

Khalaf Al-Anzi has completed 5,900 days in Saudi prisons since his arrest in 2009, following a Friday sermon he delivered at a mosque in the Kingdom. He remains arbitrarily detained to this day.

Although arrested in 2009, Saudi authorities did not bring him to trial until seven years later. In 2017, he was sentenced to three years in prison, yet he continued to be held even after completing his sentence.

During his detention, Al-Anzi has been subjected to multiple violations, including enforced disappearance and severe psychological and physical torture, which left him injured on several occasions. He has also faced deliberate medical neglect, further endangering his health and safety.

SANAD Human Rights Organization calls for his immediate and unconditional release, ensuring he receives adequate medical care, conducting an independent and transparent investigation into the violations he endured, holding those responsible accountable, and providing him with fair and appropriate compensation for the harm suffered.
