19th Political Execution: Saudi Authorities Execute Young Man Ali Al-Alawi

Saudi authorities have executed detainee Ali bin Alawi bin Mohammed Al-Alawi after five years in prison on charges related to “terrorism” and “undermining national security” — vague accusations that the Saudi regime routinely uses to justify the repression of activists, dissidents, and independent voices under the guise of legality.

SANAD Human Rights Organization expresses deep concern over the alarming surge in politically motivated executions. This marks the 19th political execution in Saudi Arabia in 2025 alone, amidst an unprecedented wave of arbitrary death sentences targeting individuals based on political or expressive grounds.

The organization affirms that the Saudi regime continues to misuse the judiciary as a tool of repression, fabricating charges and equating peaceful activities — such as expressing opinions or participating in social movements — with “terrorist crimes,” in blatant violation of fundamental standards of justice and human rights.

The Saudi authorities have previously executed journalist Turki Al-Jasser over tweets they labeled “terrorist activity,” highlighting the political nature of many executions in the kingdom.

In light of this disturbing reality, SANAD Human Rights Organization:

Strongly condemns the execution of Ali Al-Alawi, deeming it a continuation of the political executions campaign in Saudi Arabia.

Calls for an immediate halt to all politically motivated death sentences.

Renews its appeal to the United Nations and the international community to exert serious pressure to stop this bloodshed and to dispatch independent fact-finding missions to investigate the status of detainees and death row cases in Saudi Arabia.

These ongoing policies deepen the human rights crisis in the kingdom, isolate it further on the international stage, and expose anyone demanding their rights to the risk of elimination under a system of “false justice.”
