Sanad Human Rights Organization Calls on Saudi Arabia to Close the File on Prisoners of Conscience and End Arbitrary Detentions
Sanad Human Rights Organization has issued a statement urging the Saudi authorities to immediately close the file on prisoners of conscience and release all individuals detained for their opinions or peaceful activism. The organization emphasized that the limited releases in recent months are insufficient to resolve this issue permanently.
Sanad pointed out that many detainees remain imprisoned simply for peacefully expressing their views on social media or engaging in human rights activities. The organization also stressed the need to grant those released full and unconditional freedom, including freedom of movement and travel, an end to all forms of security surveillance and monitoring, and full compensation for the harm they suffered due to arbitrary arrests and unfair sentences.
The statement underscored that the continued detention of prisoners of conscience is a blatant violation of human rights, which is increasing Saudi Arabia’s international isolation and negatively impacting its national and economic interests. Sanad also reiterated the urgency of releasing all scholars, intellectuals, activists, influencers, and military detainees who were imprisoned for expressing their views on social media.
Sanad Human Rights Organization invites the public to join its call for the release of all detainees and an end to arbitrary detentions in Saudi Arabia by signing the statement on the Sanad website.
