First Anniversary of Dr. Bader Al-Mashari’s Arrest

These days mark the first anniversary of the arrest of Dr. Bader Al-Mashari, a well-known Saudi preacher, in July 2023, without any decisions from the Saudi authorities regarding his release or trial.

Al-Mashari, who is 51 years old, was arrested last July without any clear legal reasons and remains arbitrarily detained to this day. It is noteworthy that Al-Mashari was an imam at the Hattin Mosque in the National Guard before dedicating himself to preaching and religious guidance, where his videos gained wide popularity on social media, without any political activity.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights considers the continued detention of Al-Mashari part of Saudi Arabia’s policy of suppressing public freedoms and violating human rights. SANAD Organisation calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Bader Al-Mashari and appropriately compensate him.
