Continued Detention of Media Personality Hilel Al-Balawi

The Saudi authorities continue to detain media personality and businessman Hilel Al-Balawi since August 2022 without legal justification or specific charges, and there has been a complete blackout of information about him since his arrest.

Al-Balawi is known as a prominent businessman and media figure under the name “Iqbal.” He founded and chaired the boards of several companies, including the Third Mind Company for organizing exhibitions and conferences, Wajf Company, the Fifth Quarter Company, and Hatem Hospitality Company, among others. He was also a program host on Al Majd Network from 2002 until 2021.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights, expresses deep concern about the continued detention of Hilel Al-Balawi and calls on the Saudi authorities to release him immediately and unconditionally, along with appropriate compensation.
