The continued detention of Dr. Yousuf Al-Qasim since September 2017.
In September 2017, Saudi authorities raided Dr. Yousuf Al-Qasim’s private farm located on the outskirts of Riyadh after midnight and arrested him without any legal reasons warranting such action.
Al-Qasim, who has been detained in the Al-Ha’ir Prison in Riyadh since his arrest, has faced numerous violations, including solitary confinement and being prevented from communicating with his family. He was also not allowed to appoint a lawyer.
In November 2018, a first secret trial session was held for him by the Specialized Criminal Court after delays in his trial. Then, in September 2020, the Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh sentenced him to five years in prison.
SANAD Organisation for Human Rights, calls for an end to the violations against Dr. Yousuf Al-Qasim and all prisoners of conscience and demands his immediate and unconditional release.
