Lawyer Ahmed Al-Rashed… 8 years behind bars for defending prisoners of conscience

These days mark the eighth anniversary of the arrest of lawyer and legal advisor Ahmed Al-Rashed, who was detained by Saudi security forces on April 11, 2018, due to his work defending prisoners of conscience.

Following his arrest, Saudi authorities took him to an unknown location and denied him contact with his family. There has been no information about him being brought before a court since his arrest to this day.

In the same context, Saudi authorities have arrested a number of lawyers who defended prisoners of conscience. Some were released after years of detention, such as Abdulaziz Al-Shubaili, while others remain detained, including Waleed Abu Al-Khair, Motab Al-Omari, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Faiz.

SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Ahmed Al-Rashed, provide him with appropriate compensation, and release all prisoners of conscience in Saudi Arabia.
