Continued detention of journalist and writer Maha Al-Rafidi since 2019.

Journalist Maha Al-Rafidi remains imprisoned in Saudi authorities’ custody since September 2019, due to tweets where she demanded the release of prisoners of conscience in Saudi Arabia.

It is noted that a masked security force of around 30 individuals raided Al-Rafidi’s residence, arrested her, confiscated her electronic devices and personal belongings. Maha experienced solitary confinement and was forcibly concealed for a duration of 4 months. During one of the visits, she was seen with bruises on her face, indicating signs of torture. She has been sentenced to 6 years in prison and is also subject to a travel ban.

The human rights organization Sanad calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately release journalist Maha Al-Rafidi and all prisoners of conscience without condition
