One Month After His Arrest — Yemeni Scholar Abu Al-Hasan Al-Ma’ribi Remains Detained in Saudi Arabia
Yemeni scholar and head of the Ahl al-Hadith Association in Yemen, Mustafa Ismail Al-Sulaymani, known as Abu Al-Hasan Al-Ma’ribi, has completed one month in Saudi detention since his arrest in late September, while he was in the Kingdom to perform Umrah.
Sheikh Abu Al-Hasan Al-Ma’ribi had criticized the Madkhali movement—a religious faction loyal to the Saudi government—on several occasions, and it is believed that his arrest is linked to these criticisms, although no official confirmation has been issued so far.
SANAD Human Rights Organization condemns the continued detention of Sheikh Mustafa Ismail Al-Sulaymani during his visit for Umrah, describing it as part of an arbitrary pattern of arrests that has affected numerous pilgrims and visitors in recent years.
SANAD calls on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release him, along with all individuals detained for their opinions or peaceful activities.
