Saudi Arabia Continues to Detain Educational Counselor Khalid Al-Muhawesh Since September 2017
The Saudi authorities have been arbitrarily detaining educational counselor Khalid Al-Muhawesh since September 2017, without any legal justification. His arrest is part of the broader crackdown on freedom of expression and civil society in the kingdom.
During his detention, Al-Muhawesh has faced multiple violations, including restrictions on family contact, a secret trial held a year after his arrest, and the denial of legal representation. He was ultimately sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by a 10-year travel ban.
Sanad Human Rights Organization calls on the Saudi government to immediately and unconditionally release Khalid Al-Muhawesh, annul all rulings issued against him, and ensure full compensation for the years of detention and violations he has endured.
