On the Fourth Anniversary of His Arrest, Sanad Organization Demands the Immediate Release of Activist Abdulrahman Al-Sheikhi

These days mark the fourth anniversary of the arrest of Saudi activist Abdulrahman Al-Sheikhi, who was detained by Saudi authorities in May 2021 over tweets in which he called for decent job opportunities for Saudi youth.

According to human rights and media sources, Al-Sheikhi has faced harsh conditions in detention, including ill-treatment, denial of basic rights, lack of access to healthcare, and restrictions on family contact. He continues to be held without a fair trial.

Sanad Organization affirms that the ongoing detention of Al-Sheikhi constitutes a blatant violation of justice and fundamental rights, and reflects the Saudi government’s policy of targeting young activists and suppressing reformist voices rather than responding to their legitimate demands.

Sanad renews its call on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Abdulrahman Al-Sheikhi and all prisoners of conscience, ensure their legal and human rights, and end the criminalization of peaceful expression.
