Activist and Media Personality Mohammed Al-Fawzan (Abu Noura) Released After Five Years of Arbitrary Detention

The Saudi authorities have released activist and media personality Mohammed Al-Fawzan (Abu Noura) after nearly five years of imprisonment since his arrest in March 2020 over old tweets and videos in which he expressed his opinions.

Mohammed Al-Fawzan was a prominent social media activist who led many volunteer campaigns and played a key role in media coverage of various government-organized events in Saudi Arabia. However, this did not prevent the authorities from arresting him without cause or justification.

In this context, Sanad Human Rights Organization congratulates Mohammed Al-Fawzan on regaining his freedom after years of arbitrary detention. However, his release does not absolve the Saudi authorities of responsibility for the violations he suffered during his imprisonment.

Sanad renews its call for the immediate and unconditional release of all prisoners of conscience in Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the right to free expression without fear of repression or persecution.
