Abdullah Yusuf Jilan: Over Three Years of Detention and Abuses in Saudi Prisons
The Saudi authorities have continued to detain activist Abdullah Yusuf Jilan since May 2021, following satirical political tweets posted from an anonymous account, in which he demanded youth employment rights.
Jilan is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence, followed by a 10-year travel ban, imposed by the Specialized Criminal Court in a politically motivated ruling.
According to human rights reports, Jilan has endured severe violations in prison. He was arrested without a court order after a raid on his home, then subjected to physical torture, electric shocks, beatings, solitary confinement, medical neglect, and denial of legal representation.
Sanad Human Rights Organization calls on Saudi authorities to immediately release Abdullah Yusuf Jilan, end the violations he is facing in prison, and ensure his right to a fair trial and the protection of his fundamental human rights.
