After five years of detention… Abdulrahman Al-Sheikhi remains behind bars

These days mark the fifth anniversary of the arrest of Saudi activist Abdulrahman Al-Sheikhi, who was detained by Saudi authorities in May 2021 over tweets calling for decent job opportunities for Saudi youth.

According to human rights and media sources, Al-Sheikhi has endured harsh detention conditions, including ill-treatment and deprivation of basic rights such as healthcare and communication with his family, in addition to his continued detention without a fair trial.

SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Abdulrahman Al-Sheikhi and all prisoners of conscience, guarantee their legal and human rights, and stop criminalizing peaceful expression.
