Nawaf bin Shuifan Al-Azma: 3,300 Days of Enforced Disappearance Over a Tweet

It has been 3,300 days since Saudi authorities arrested and forcibly disappeared retired Saudi officer Nawaf bin Shuifan Al-Azma in October 2016 due to a tweet he posted on his account on X (formerly Twitter).

In his tweet, Al-Azma called for the dismissal of Mohammed bin Salman from his position as Minister of Defense—a demand that falls under legally protected freedom of expression. However, the Saudi government arrested and forcibly disappeared him, committing a crime that constitutes a violation of human rights and international law.

SANAD Human Rights Organization calls on Saudi authorities to reveal the fate of Nawaf bin Shu’ifan Al-Azma, ensure his immediate and unconditional release, provide him with adequate compensation, and put an end to human rights violations and unlawful actions.
