SANAD Organisation calls for the release of Dr. Essam Al-Oweid

The Saudi authorities have been detaining Dr. Essam Al-Oweid since February 2017 due to his criticism of the Entertainment Authority.

It is noted that Dr. Al-Oweid is one of the victims of harsh sentencing in Saudi Arabia. Initially, he was sentenced to four years in prison, three of which were enforceable. However, the Saudi judiciary, without any legal justification, intensified the sentence after its completion to 27 years. Al-Oweid has also been subjected to enforced disappearance for many years.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights urges the Saudi authorities to overturn the judgment on Al-Oweid and to release him immediately and unconditionally.
