Dr. Ali Al-Tuwati, a writer and an economic and strategic analyst, remains in arbitrary detention to date, having been arrested by the Saudi authorities in September 2021 over tweets criticizing the policies of the United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Al-Tuwati is a prominent figure in Saudi society, with a distinguished professional record in both the military and academic sectors. He earned his Ph.D. in Regional Economics and Public Finance from Syracuse University in the United States and has held several positions in the Saudi Ministry of Defense.
SANAD Organisation for Human Rights expresses deep concern about the ongoing detention of Dr. Al-Tuwati for the third year and calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately release him and all other opinion detainees in Saudi Arabia.
