Abu Mohammed Al-Banakhi has been behind bars for more than 6 years
The Saudi authorities continue the arbitrary detention of the tweeter “Abu Mohammed Al-Banakhi” since September 2017, due to his expression of opinion, without any formal charges against him or presenting him to a fair trial.
Al-Banakhi suffers from harsh detention conditions in Al-Ha’ir Prison in Riyadh, having been held in solitary confinement and denied communication with his family. The Saudi authorities have been procrastinating in resolving his case, and more than 6 years have passed since Al-Banakhi’s arrest without any progress in his file, which confirms the arbitrariness of this action and constitutes a violation of his human rights.
SANAD Organisation for Human Rights demands the immediate release of Abu Mohammed Al-Banakhi and all detainees held for expressing their opinions and calls for an end to the policy of arbitrary detention practiced against dissidents and activists by the Saudi authorities.
