Dr. Omar Al-Muqbil's sentence has ended without his release

The Saudi authorities continue to detain the Saudi academic Dr. Omar Al-Muqbil, despite the end of his sentence in March 2024.

He was arrested in September 2019 for peacefully expressing his opinion and was sentenced by the Specialized Criminal Court to 6 months in prison, which was later increased by the Supreme Court in Riyadh to 4 years.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights strongly condemns the continued detention of Dr. Omar Al-Muqbil by the Saudi authorities, despite the completion of his sentence in March 2024, and calls for his immediate and unconditional release.
