Continued Detention of Abdulrahim Al-Hawali, Son of Dr. Safar Al-Hawali

The Saudi authorities continue to detain Abdulrahim Al-Hawali since July 2018, without any legal reasons. His arrest was due to his being the son of Dr. Safar Al-Hawali, who has also been detained since the same year.

Al-Hawali has faced numerous serious violations during his detention, including enforced disappearance and physical torture, and being deprived of sleep for long months.

In February 2020, a secret trial was held for him. He was sentenced to six years in prison by the Specialized Criminal Court, but the Court of Appeal increased the sentence to 15 years.
