Dr. Ali Omar Badhahdah Released After Completing His Sentence

SANAD Human Rights Organization has learned of the release of Dr. Ali Omar Badhahdah after he completed his nine-year prison sentence, following his arrest in September 2017.

The Specialized Criminal Court initially sentenced him to six years in prison. The sentence was later reduced to four years before being increased again to nine years.

During his imprisonment, Dr. Badhahdah was subjected to a series of serious human rights violations, including enforced disappearance, solitary confinement, prolonged denial of contact with his family, deprivation of access to legal counsel, and ill-treatment in detention.

SANAD Human Rights Organization congratulates Dr. Ali Omar Badhahdah and his family on his release and their reunion after years of suffering. The organization reiterates its call on the Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all prisoners of conscience and arbitrarily detained individuals, end the violations against them, and ensure full respect for their fundamental rights.
