After 7 Years of Detention… Omar Al-Saed Placed in Solitary Confinement

Human rights sources previously reported that Saudi authorities transferred human rights activist Omar Al-Saed to solitary confinement in June 2025, after seven years of arbitrary detention since his arrest on 23 June 2018, due to his peaceful activism and his role in co-founding the Civil and Political Rights Association (HASAM).

Al-Saed was first arrested in 2013 and sentenced to seven years in prison. He was released in December 2015, but was re-arrested in June 2018 and has remained in detention ever since.

For its part, SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call on Saudi authorities to end Omar Al-Saed’s detention, put an end to the use of solitary confinement against prisoners of conscience, ensure respect for human rights and the freedom of peaceful activism, and release all prisoners of conscience.
