Yusuf Al-Mulhim… enters his ninth year behind bars over a tweet
Saudi media professional and businessman Yousef Al-Mulhim has entered his ninth year in detention since his arbitrary arrest in September 2017, following a tweet he posted on X (formerly Twitter) criticizing official Saudi media discourse during the Gulf crisis with Qatar. Despite the resolution of the crisis years ago, Al-Mulhim remains imprisoned without any legal basis or fair trial.
During his years in detention, Al-Mulhim has suffered severe violations, including ill-treatment by prison guards, deprivation of family visits, and being subjected to a secret trial in which he was denied the right to legal representation—an explicit breach of basic principles of justice.
In light of these ongoing abuses, SANAD Human Rights Organization calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Yousef Al-Mulhim and all prisoners of conscience in Saudi Arabia.
