Arbitrary Detention Continues: Dr. Razin Al-Razin Detained in Saudi Arabia Since 2017
Saudi authorities continue to detain Dr. Razin Mohammed Al-Razin, the former Executive Chairman of the Consumer Protection Association, since September 2017, without bringing any formal charges or granting him a fair trial.
According to information obtained by SANAD Human Rights Organization, Dr. Al-Razin has been subjected to grave violations during his detention, most notably enforced disappearance for over a year and a half in solitary confinement, as well as complete denial of contact with his family—practices that constitute flagrant violations of international humanitarian law.
SANAD strongly condemns these arbitrary actions carried out by Saudi authorities against Dr. Al-Razin and other political detainees. The organization calls for his immediate and unconditional release, the guarantee of his physical and psychological safety, and his access to full legal and human rights.
SANAD warns that the ongoing detention of Dr. Al-Razin is unlawful and stands as a clear example of the Saudi government’s repressive policy of silencing voices and cracking down on academics and activists.
The organization urges the international community and human rights bodies to increase pressure on Saudi authorities to end such violations, release all political prisoners, and ensure Saudi Arabia upholds the international human rights treaties to which it is a party.
