Saudi Authorities Release Activist Yasmin Al-Ghufaili After Four Years of Detention

According to human rights and media sources, Saudi authorities have released activist and social media user Yasmin Al-Ghufaili after four years of detention, which began in May 2021 over tweets she posted on the platform X expressing her peaceful opinions.

During her imprisonment, Al-Ghufaili was subjected to several violations, including being coerced into appearing in a report aired by the state-run Al-Ikhbariya TV channel as part of a propaganda campaign aimed at whitewashing the conditions of Saudi prisons.

In this context, Sanad Human Rights Organization congratulates Yasmin Al-Ghufaili and her family on her release, and renews its call for the immediate and unconditional release of all prisoners of conscience in Saudi Arabia, and for the guarantee of their fundamental rights—chief among them, the right to freedom of expression.
