Saudi authorities continue to detain teacher Mona Al-Bayali under enforced disappearance for over six years.

Saudi authorities continue to hold teacher Mona Al-Bayali in enforced disappearance for more than six years, following her arrest in September 2018 for expressing her opinion on social media.

According to human rights and media sources, Al-Bayali has been subjected to a series of grave violations, most notably the complete cut-off from her family, her continued detention without any formal charges, and without being presented before any court. These facts indicate that she is a victim of systematic enforced disappearance, which violates both domestic laws and international human rights standards.

In this context, Sanad Human Rights Organization calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately disclose the fate and whereabouts of teacher Mona Al-Bayali, release her unconditionally, and hold those responsible for her unlawful detention accountable.

The organization also calls for an end to the policy of enforced disappearance against activists and opinion holders, warning of the serious consequences of this approach on the Kingdom’s reputation and international human rights obligations—especially in light of the absence of any independent judicial oversight to ensure justice and transparency.
