YouTuber Wahib Al-Sheikh Released After Two Years of Arbitrary Detention
After two years of arbitrary detention, the Saudi authorities have released young YouTuber Wahib Al-Sheikh, who had been detained since March 2023 without any legal basis or clear judicial procedures.
Sanad Human Rights Organization welcomes the news of Wahib Al-Sheikh’s release and extends its congratulations to him and his family on his safe return. However, the organization also stresses that this release does not absolve the authorities of responsibility for the serious violations and arbitrary detention Wahib endured throughout his imprisonment.
Sanad further emphasizes that, despite some individual releases, hundreds of detainees still languish in prisons unjustly and arbitrarily, without fair trials or clear legal grounds. This situation demands urgent action from human rights organizations and the international community to pressure for their release and to ensure their basic rights are protected.
