Abdullah Al-Arini: Ongoing Detention Reflects the Reality of Freedoms in Saudi Arabia
Saudi authorities have continued to detain young Abdullah Hajaj Al-Arini since 2018 due to old tweets in which he expressed his opinion. This is considered a serious violation of human rights, particularly the right to freedom of expression, which is guaranteed by international law and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Since his arrest, his case has neither been resolved nor has he been released. These ongoing violations by the Saudi authorities and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman affirm that Saudi Arabia is a repressive state that does not respect the rights of its citizens nor its international obligations.
In response, SANAD Human Rights Organisation calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately release Abdullah Al-Arini, provide him with the necessary compensation, and release all prisoners of conscience in Saudi Arabia.
