The Saudi authorities continue to detain Osama Khalid since 2020 on arbitrary charges

The Saudi authorities have been arbitrarily detaining the writer, translator, and programmer Osama Khalid since 2020 on charges related to his right to freedom of expression.

The Saudi judiciary initially sentenced Osama Khalid to five years in prison, but the Court of Appeals later increased the sentence to more than 30 years based on accusations described as malicious.

It is worth noting that Osama is a blogger, pediatrician, and IT activist who previously worked with Wikipedia. His accounts were closed following his arrest.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights calls on the Saudi authorities to release Osama Khalid immediately and unconditionally, to provide him with necessary compensation, and to release all prisoners of conscience in Saudi Arabia.
