2480 days since the arrest of economist Essam Al-Zamil
It has been more than 2480 days since Saudi authorities arrested economist Essam Al-Zamil in September 2017, following his return from an international economic conference.
Al-Zamil had criticized the Saudi government’s economic policies, leading to his arrest and a 15-year prison sentence. During his imprisonment, Al-Zamil has faced numerous abuses, including solitary confinement, defamation, and the filing of malicious charges against him.
In response, SANAD Organisation for Human Rights calls on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Essam Al-Zamil, appropriately compensate him, halt abuses against citizens, and release all prisoners of conscience.
